Diet, exercise, and body contouring procedures I’ve had done to maintain a healthy physique!

Hi my beauties! As a cosmetic dermatologist, I am often asked about how I maintain my physique at the age of 45. I always tell my patients that a healthy diet, regular exercise, and body contouring treatments can make a huge difference in your overall health and appearance. In this blog post, I will be discussing my own diet, workout routine, and body contouring treatments that I have done on myself and recommend to my patients.

One of the biggest challenges for me has been working around my busy schedule. Keep in mind that what works for someone might not work for someone else. During my years in medical school, I spent a lot of time being sleep-deprived and unintentionally fasting due to a lack of time. Since then, intermittent fasting has become a way of life for me, and I stick to the 16:8 time frame. I always try to eat as clean as possible and meal prep so that I have healthy food with me at all times.

Now, I prioritize working out and taking care of myself as much as possible, even though it can be tough with my busy schedule of running my business and taking care of my family. I usually wake up at 5 am every day to work out, either by going to spin, to the gym, or running on the beach. I workout early because I have to get it done when I can, and this is the best time for me when no one is awake yet and it’s a full hour just to myself.

I have found that intermittent fasting works really well with my schedule, and I stick to the 16:8 schedule. I usually have a late lunch/early dinner at 2 or 2:30 and then don’t eat the rest of the evening. I workout fasted in the mornings from 5-6 am. Usually either spin, weights, or a beach workout. Then I have breakfast, which is usually a smoothie with berries, greens, healthy fats and plant based protein powder. I don't usually snack, but if I do, it's always healthy things like fruits, veggies, or nuts.

Supplements play a role in my daily routine, too. I don't rely on them, but I do take them every day. I mix up my supplement routine based on what I need, and I have a sensitive stomach, so I can't take too many at a time. I love Cymbiotika, which is an amazing brand and a good friend of ours.
I used to drink coffee a lot, but this year I gave up coffee altogether and switched solely to tea. I usually have green tea in the morning and chamomile or green tea in the evening before bed. Green tea has a lot of antioxidants and polyphenols for anti-cancer effects.

As a cosmetic dermatologist, I have access to all the body contouring devices available, and I know what works and what doesn't. After I had my second baby, I did cool sculpting, which I had several treatments for. However, I had an issue with skin laxity after having this treatment. So, it’s not my favorite body contouring treatment. I have also seen this issue with a lot of my other patients as well. You can also get something called paradoxical fat hypertrophy, which is where you gain fat in other areas after a fat removing treatment like cool sculpting. To avoid it, I recommend Kybella for fat dissolving and minor body contouring. It’s best used on areas like bra fat, knee fat, and back fat that won’t be affected by diet and exercise. There aren’t really any side effects with Kybella, so I love it for myself and all of my beauties. I have also done Sculptra and Emsculpt on myself to shape my body even further.

Hydration is also key to maintaining a healthy physique. Drinking 2 liters per day is crucial for hydration. Water affects everything in your body, so it's important to make sure you drink enough. I aim for at least 2 liters per day!

In summary, I focus a lot on eating a healthy diet, working out, and using minimally invasive body contouring treatments to maintain my physique for life. I hope this was helpful for you! For more details watch my YouTube video below. See you next Sunday my beauties!
